The book reflects core psychological truths about our experience as both physical and incorporeal beings, about the need to ground the self in the beauty of this world, and accept the mystery of the eventual transition to the next.
Ms. Osborn was born in Maryland and grew up between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. She briefly studied art at New College in Sarasota, FL, and earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, putting herself through school as a clerk in a flower shop, a chemistry technician at the Laboratory of Neurochemistry at NIH, and a relatively humorless bar maid at a steak house with a surprisingly good chef with whom she later married and raised a family.
While their daughter was an infant, Roberta wrote 30 pages of a book she wasn\'t to resume for 20 years, and began her 20-year career as an information technology manager. After her father\'s death, she grieved for several years, finally finding acceptance through the purposeful imagination of beauty documented in Dreams of the Borderland.
Roberta completed her first science fiction novel, Chaos and Reunion, in January of 2005. Roberta\'s current writing projects include a script version of Chaos and Reunion, and a prequel to it, First Wave.
